The school day continues. Miracle has a difference of opinion. Presto speaks truth to power. Melody considers strangers like her. The Assembly ponders their predicament. Everyone gets the third degree from the authorities.
The Imperial Cult: In times past, Wizard King Griffin Slade ascended the highest mountain and returned with an axe forged from the iron of a dragon’s blood and the heart of a dragon in his chest, claiming he could now never die of old age and has unlocked the secrets of magic and all willing sorcerers should join his courts to plumb the depths of truth. Slade’s nascent organization begins creating monsters in the pursuit of knowledge and proliferating inventions and technologies that raise the quality of life. It’s presumed Slade is still alive, whispering secrets that run through his veins.
Too many corrupt wizards and too much noble nepotism gave rise to a movement of temperance, restraint and introspection, along with making magic more accessible to everyone. Naturally these voices of reason and resistance were killed because this would jeopardize the speed of transformation into a proper empire.
Today there are no officially recognized religions within the Empire. Ancestral and nature cults exist on the fringes and are treated as piteously backwards and tragic, in need of enlightenment. Unofficially the church created by Slade exists as a secret society meant to entrap citizens who are too clever by half or ask too many questions about covered-up historical events.
Duty: it is the duty of all good citizens to support and spread the benevolence of the state.
Honor: honor the message of King Slade by teaching those you feel are worthy of his knowledge.
Respect: respect your fellow believers, higher and lower and similar, as long as they maintain the mission.
