3:16: Carnage Amongst The Stars” is a twenty part campaign. Terra is peaceful, perfect, pure, one unified nation. Nobody ever dies if they don’t choose to. In order to ensure its safety, the Terran Expeditionary Force has collected brave volunteers to leave its utopian shores to kill all extant life in the galaxy so it will never grow to threaten it. In exchange, the Troopers face danger they never imagined, unpredictability, uncertainty, a death with meaning. Yegg Squadron is one unit under the greater Y Division under the 3:16th Terran Expeditionary Force. This is their story.

The Stewards

3:16 was inspired/influenced by:

  • Helldivers and Helldivers 2
  • Warhammer 40,000
  • Starship Troopers (novel and film series (especially the first film))
  • Generation Kill (specifically the scene where everyone is singing Teenage Dirtbag in the convoy and the Warhammer 40k fanart)
  • Jess reading Tim O’Brien’s “The Things They Carried” in middle school and the culture soldiers create when they’re in the field and reality/nature outweighs doctrine and morale.
  • The art direction of Spec Ops: The Line (especially the aquarium)
  • Dan Schkade’s run on Flash Gordon
  • R.E.M’s “Orange Crush”
  • Tonally inappropriate music playing during an important moment providing juxtaposition
  • The works of Erika Chappell (especially Patrol, the Goths from Flying Circus, her excellent writing on the Imperial Guard and Lt. Fusilier).
  • A More Civilized Age
  • “Kimmy” by Alyson Greaves (mind the content warnings on this one, seriously)
  • honestly just a ton of online literature/content discussing war, personhood and “wouldn’t it be fucked up if?” made by marginalized creators
  • every year I’ve been alive in America and the many more before that.
  • the joy of making a silly little jerk of a character and then deciding to commit to making them worse.

yegg: (cant, slang) a person who breaks open safes; a burglar.
